Job Purpose

The primary objective of this internship is to give recent graduates experience and exposure in the practical aspects of their respective areas of study.

Position: Information Technology Graduate Intern X1

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • IT Incident Management – Responsible for the effective implementation of the IT incident management process and carries out corresponding reporting.
  • Information Technology (IT) Service Operation and Support – receive, register, classify and ensure resolution of all IT service support requests.
  • IT Service Availability Management – responsible for defining, analysing, planning, measuring and improving all aspects of the availability of IT Services.
  • Provide IT expertise to communities that the organisation works with (IT as a medium of development).
  • IT Problem Management – responsible for managing the lifecycle of all problems.
  • IT Information Security – responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the organisation’s assets, information, data and IT services.
  • Provide support in corporate system implementation through related capacity building training interventions to staff and providing required support to users.
  • Promote and abide by internal policies and procedures

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a degree or equivalent in Information Systems or Computer Science from a recognised university.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Windows/Office environment.

Position: Internal Audit Graduate Intern X1

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of internal audit department.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the activity under audit, including information systems risks and controls.
  • Assess risks and internal control strengths and weaknesses.
  • Review and interpret data to identify trends and investigate exceptional items.
  • Participate in and work productively.
  • Document the work performed and conclusions on work papers.
  • Assist in the identification and preparation of audit issues and assist in preparing reports on audit issues.

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a Higher National Diploma in Accounting or Higher National Diploma in Internal Auditing.
  • A Degree in Accounting or Internal Auditing from a recognised university would be an added advantage.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Windows/Office environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Position: Procurement Graduate Intern X1

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure confidentiality to all prices and quotations.
  • Monitor and control vendor’s performance.
  • Monitor daily and monthly material requirements to avoid over/under supply.
  • Ensure purchases are made at the right quantity, quality and prices.
  • Accountable for stock accuracy – daily stock transaction.
  • To organise and maintain proper records of inventory checking and receiving data entry.
  • To provide general administrative support to the department and other clerical administration.

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply.
  • A Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Purchasing and Supply from a recognised university will be an added advantage.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Position: Accounting Graduate Intern X1

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • Prepares demand letters.
  • Captures data on the status of various categories of debtors.
  • Processes, monitors and follows up on payment plans with debtors.
  • Create data base of all business, and residential stands.
  • Recommend to the Accountant the accounts discrepancies adjustments.
  • Maintains and processes accounting transactions and records related to accounts receivables.
  • Captures, tabulates, compares and reports on statistical financial data of revenue received.

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Studies or equivalent from a recognised university.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.

Position: Social Services Graduate Intern X1

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in the formulation of annual plans for the Social Services Department.
  • Assist in managing gender mainstreaming activities.
  • Assist in the recruitment of Health Sector staff for RDC Rural Health Centres.
  • Assist in the compilation of departmental returns and reports.
  • Assist in the coordination and the implementation of sports, recreation and cultural activities.
  • Co-ordinate the activities of NGOs operating within the district.

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a Degree in Development Studies/ Social Work or any relevant Social Sciences Degree from a recognised university.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.

Position: Environment Graduate Interns X2

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • Spearheading the identification, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of community based environmental conservation projects in the district.
  • Controlling and managing environmental pollution.
  • Managing sand abstraction sites, natural resources utilization and management of veld fires.
  • Producing environmental plans in communal areas to be used as bases for environment management.
  • Conducting environmental resources and assessing potential for conservation and management.
  • Crafting of environment related by-laws.
  • Co-ordination of cattle sales and formation of buyers’ database.
  • Education of communities on various environmental issues.
  • Preparation of budgets and district plans.

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a Degree in Natural Resources Management, Environmental Sciences or any other related degree from a recognised university.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the local indigenous language.

Position: Civil Engineering Graduate Intern X1

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • To take charge of the planning function of RDC – liase with Department of Physical of Planning for production / review of annual, and Strategic plans.
  • Responsible for supervision of stands allocation.
  • Planning and producing weekly and monthly progress reports on construction projects i.e road, buildings.
  • Approval of buildings under construction throughout the district and produce reports.
  • Producing of BOQs for council projects.
  • To ensure the putting in place of a waste management & refuse removal system.
  • To design, construct and maintain sewerage works of council.
  • To plan, site and implement all council projects and pegging of business and residential stands.
  • Preparation of council budgets and building plan.
  • To service stands for council and prepare business and residential leases.
  • Carries out regular surveys and prepares reports.
  • Provides technical support, repairs, estimate costing and preparation of works programmes on mainly non domestic properties.

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a National diploma in Urban and Regional Planning or Rural and Urban Planning or any relevant planning qualification from a recognised higher learning institute.
  • A first degree in Planning will be an added advantage.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.

Position: Administration/Records Management Graduate Intern X1

Duration:  2years

Location:  Nkayi District

Key responsibilities

  • Maintaining the filing system of the organization & performing adhoc administrative duties.
  • Answering questions about organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information requested.
  • Support administrative and special projects requirements, as assigned.
  •  Managing office supplies such as stationery, staff teas, etc
  • Scheduling appointments for council executives and management as well as making travel & accommodation bookings.
  • Asset numbering and record management of organisation files and assets.

Entry qualifications and experience

  • A recent graduate with a Degree in Records Management, Administration or any relevant qualification from a recognised university.
  • At least 1year industrial attachment.
